Macaulay Child Development Centre Vaccination Policy

September 24, 2021

Macaulay recognizes the importance of taking every precaution reasonable in the circumstance for the protection of the health and safety of children and families, our staff, students, volunteers, visitors, and greater community from the hazards of COVID-19.

Macaulay supports the COVID-19 vaccination program and recognizes vaccination as one of the critical control measures for the hazards of COVID-19. Public Health guidance demonstrates that the vaccine provides a safe and effective level of protection against COVID-19 and related variants and helps to prevent serious illness and hospitalization. High rates of vaccination are important to protect all staff, children, and families to whom we provide care and services and will reduce the risk of outbreaks and service interruption.

Therefore, Macaulay is implementing a COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate Policy requiring all staff, students, and volunteers in all programs and departments, and frequent visitors at childcare centres to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All Macaulay home childcare providers, home childcare visitors, and every adult who is ordinarily a resident of the home or regularly at the home are required to disclose their vaccination status.

Important dates:

Effective Monday, November 1, 2021, all staff, students, and volunteers in all programs and departments, and frequent visitors at childcare centres are required to have completed the full course of vaccination and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Monday, November 15, 2021.

Effective immediately, all Macaulay staff, home childcare providers, home childcare visitors, and every adult who is ordinarily a resident of the home or regularly at the home are required to disclose their vaccination status.

Beginning September 27, all staff and providers who are not fully vaccinated, or have not disclosed their status, or have been provided with an approved accommodation will begin regular antigen testing.
