Dear parents/guardians and community members,

As you are likely aware, Education Unions representing Ontario’s Teachers (including ETFO and OECTA) have announced details of another strike should an agreement not be reached with the province.

Please also note that the TCDSB school board will be on strike on Thursday, March 5th, 2020

In the event of a strike, the school programs will be closed but the buildings will be accessible. This will impact Macaulay programs as follows:

All Macaulay Child Care Programs operating in school buildings will be open. This includes infant, toddler, preschool, and before and after school programs. Please see letter for further details.

Home Child Care
Macaulay Home Child Care will operate during a school strike. If your child’s school is closed, contact your provider to see if care will be provided during school hours.

After School Programs (Homework Clubs)
Brookhaven, Keelesdale, Portage: if your child’s school is closed, the After School Program will also be closed.

Humberwood: if your child’s school is closed, the program will be open started at 2:45pm. Children must be signed in by someone 16 years or older to room 1016. Children attending must be signed in by 3:45pm at the latest. Pick up time remains the same at 5:30pm sharp. Because children must be signed in by you or a person 16 years or older that you have arranged to sign them in, we will not be calling you if your child does not arrive in the program.

EarlyON Programs
If your program runs in a school and the school is not running due to a strike, the EarlyON program may be closed. Call our head office at 416-789-7441 and speak to the operator to confirm whether your program will be open.

If an agreement is reached before March 5th, all Macaulay Child Care and community programs will be open as per the usual hours of operation.
We will continue to communicate with you if the situation changes.
Thank you,
The Macaulay Child Development Centre
