Service Delivery Update

December 23, 2020

Dear parents/guardians and members of our community:

The Macaulay Child Development Centre is committed to the health, safety and well-being of the families we serve, as well as our staff, providers, volunteers and our greater community. In light of the provincial lockdown ordered by the Premier of Ontario on Monday, December 21, 2020, we want to take this opportunity to keep you updated on how we are supporting our community throughout this time.

Update on Service Delivery – Licensed Child Care

As part of the provincial lockdown, all publicly funded elementary schools in Ontario will move to a virtual/remote learning model from January 4-8, 2021. During this closure period, Macaulay programs will operate as follows:

  • All full time Macaulay programs for children 0 to 4 years (infants, toddlers and preschoolers) will continue as normal. This includes full time childcare programs located in schools.
  • All Macaulay child care centre based Before and After kindergarten and school age programs will be closed from January 4-8, as directed by the Province.
  • Home child care providers will continue to operate during the school closure.
  • Emergency Child Care may be available to serve kindergarten and school age children of essential workers during the week of January 4-8, 2021. Macaulay indicated our interest in providing Emergency Child Care in all our centres located in schools and in home child care programs. Further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

Update on Service Delivery – Community Programs

Over the past nine months, all Macaulay programs and services have transitioned to a virtual platform. Programs and essential supports continue to be delivered through the use of video and tele-practice, web and social media platforms. At this time, Macaulay’s physical programs and services locations (excluding child care) remain closed. Please visit our website regularly and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to access additional resources and information.

We will continue to keep our community updated as this situation evolves. Throughout this time, we remain committed to giving children, and their families, the skills needed to succeed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and in the future. We encourage everyone to stay home and to do their part to help limit the spread of the virus. For more information, please visit www.toronto.ca/covid19

Stay safe,

Trevor McAlmont
