Early Learning and Parent Education Programs

Regular Drop-in Programs:

Play and Learn (0 – 6 Years)
Play and Learn is a program where parents and caregivers and their children meet others and play interactively in a learning environment. The program includes creative activities, drama, music, pre-reading, math concepts, large and fine motor activities.

Baby & Me
Parents and their baby can meet with other new parents in a relaxing, social environment. There is a variety of stimulating activities, informative workshops, interactive games, songs and finger plays.

Family Fun (0 – 6 Years)
Family Fun is a program that focuses on early learning activities that relate to the development of the child. Activities include sensory, craft, cognitive, dramatic, and block play.

Connecting with families (0 – 6 Years)
Provides an opportunity for parents, caregivers and children to play, interact, and meet others from the community.

Registered Parent Workshops and Children’s Groups:

Esso Family Math
A program for children 3 – 6 years and their parents/caregivers designed to help children understand math concepts, develop logical thinking, and enjoy numbers in familiar ways.

Let’s Get Started
A unique program for children with special needs and their parents/caregivers. The program focuses on social skills, positive interactions, social networking and information sharing among participants.

Lullabies to Literacy
A program for children 3 – 6 years and their parents/caregivers designed to introduce them to songs and the power of social interaction that supports the foundation for literacy learning.

Wings of Discovery
A science based program for children 3 – 6 years and their parents/caregivers designed to allow children to explore the world of science through exploration and hands-on experience.

Kids Have Stress Too!
This program is designed to assist parents and caregivers in recognizing and understanding how stress affects children.

COPEing with Toddler Behaviours
This workshop will allow parents to explore effective parenting styles and understand children’s challenging behaviours. Parents will learn techniques and strategies for planning ahead and solving problems.

Living and Learning with Baby
LLB focuses on parents of newborn babies. This parenting program is co-facilitated with a Toronto Public Health nurse.
Nobody’s Perfect
Parenting program where parents talk and learn about: positive parenting, behavior guidance, safety, etc. This program is co-facilitated with Toronto Public Health.

Make the Connection Baby
MTC birth to one helps parents interact with their babies in ways that promote secure attachments, communication and brain development.

Make the Connection Toddler
MTC Toddler helps parents support their child’s development during the second year. It combines hands-on activities and parent reflection.

Class Wide Social Skills
In this program your child will learn and enhance social skills through a variety of hands-on activities.

School Readiness
This program helps prepare children for Junior Kindergarten. It will enhance children’s social and self-
help skills and promote language development.

You Make the Difference
A parent education program that encourages positive parent-child interactions. Parents learn how to foster and enrich their child’s social and language development during every day experiences.

Parent Advocacy Training
Macaulay’s Parent Advocacy Training workshop series brings parents together to support each other and learn new ways to speak up for children’s rights and needs in different settings, including school, health care, special needs services and child care settings. Participants discuss how to navigate complicated systems, share different approaches to solving problems and use effective ways of communicating with the professionals in their child’s life.
